Inverted engine stand?
I have an extra engine I'd like to check the main and rod shims in and wondered if anyone has an idea for a floor type stand I could build to adjust the shims from a chair or bucket. An inverted stand of some sort to support the block and tolerate rotating the crank between adjustments.
My regular engine stand and cherry picker are in use already and thought some one has a good idea how to accomplish this device to be built and not worry about tipping. What say gentlemen? Any ideas? Thanks in advance. Russell |

Re: Inverted engine stand?
If the head is off, you can insert 4 bolts the the corners of the block deck into the head stud holes. This will allow you to set the engine upside down on the ground and it will keep the motor off the the valves and deck.

Re: Inverted engine stand?
Harbor Freight has a good stand that you can turn the engine any way you want for around $120 or so bucks. Works great.
