Default 8-plug high compression head

Hello,

Sacramento Vintage Ford had a 8-plug high compression head (model A ford) for sale for a number of years, but they no longer carry it (6:1 compression) Anybody know where you can get them or does anyone have one they aren't going to use? Has anyone ever tried one? How did it perform? Maybe they don't make them because they weren't that good. Your thoughts?

Thanks for your time.

Marty

That's probably Charlie Yapp's Lion Head, I don't think he make the
8 plug head any more.

Charlie has them occasionally. I think he is currently out of stock but I think I remember a recent comment in his magazine that he was making a batch of them.

His CR is 6.5:1 on this aluminum head with 8 plug holes.

Hello Again,

This one looked stock (except for the 8 plugs). It didn't look like Yapp's Lion head. Maybe this was his first prototype? Are you out there reading this Charlie?

That is the one that Dan Price made for aero back some 15+ years ago. I'm pretty sure he told me he sold all his patterns for it and the Thomas stuff to Don Snyder.

I'm finishing up pattern equipment for a new one right now. It is Snyder's product that I am re-doing from scratch. The equipment will make iron or aluminum.

Here is one option:

I just make stuff, I figure since Don wanted a bunch of these he had the distributor issue taken care of.

I always liked the dual plug setup. Airplanes use it and it is more power and more efficient at the same time.

Can someone tell me what the heck this is? What's under, for the lack of knowing what it is, the chrome valve covers?

Looks like a Riley two port overhead conversion.
Vince has some info on his site. http://www.fordgarage.com/pages/1930...alveinhead.htm
