Default window frame screws

Can someone tell me on an original 1939 Ford Deluxe Sedan, what type of screw is used on the rear window frame and on the rear quarter window. Are they Phillips head or flat head? And does anyone know where they can be purchased.

Any help is appreciated!

Thanks,

Jim S

No Ford product employed Phillips head screws prior to WWII. Typically, those applications used nickel-plated slotted oval head #8 sheet metal screws.

Places like C&G, Drake, Carpenter etc have the screw kits.

FYI I once Googled 'Whose brilliant idea was it to invent Phillips heads'.
The info supplied indicated that in the case of automated assembly a power bit was less successful at staying engaged with a slot head while the Phillips arrangement is able to zero in on the target.

At one time Roy Nacewicz was considering tooling up for these screws. Roy's idea
was to increase the thread diameter slightly to help compensate for the stretched out
holes in the sheet metal tabs that the garnishes are anchored to.

He offers (or did offer) #10 screws with #8 heads for that purpose.

Both Robertson and Torx screws put Phillips head screws to shame when it comes to staying engaged.
