Default radiator

Are the early flat head radiators split into two separate sections left-right? I want put lower radiator hose drains on. Do I need a drain on each side or will one drain work?

Only the core is split. The tanks are single chamber, so only one drain is needed.

Were all years split cores 32-53 or were the later ones not split?

I think 1941 Ford was the last year for the split radiator as the old time hole in the grille and radiator for hand cranking was discontinued. I remember my OEM 40 Ford radiator was split.

Rockfla, I think you are correct. Does it have something to do with the radiator on these models sitting lower and the hand crank passing through the core area?

Answer to 39Topless My block drains will not come out and there is no drain in the radiator. If you cut a small section out of the lower radiator hose and install pipe with a petcock you have a lower radiator hose drain.
