Default Cheap, Crude and Effective

An update I think. I might have posted a pic here last winter of a problem I was having re attaching the trim around the lower back window of the 52 Merc. Time and rust had rendered the little spring snap clip ineffective at holding the strip of stainless onto the body of the car. So I tried a method that had worked on the sun visor trim with the same problem. Using a 5/16 bolt with a flat, or rounded head, I welded and then cut the head square so it fit inside the channel of the trim strip, replacing the original factory clip. As the rear seat is gone I was able to attach a nut and washer from the inside and tighten the bolt down, thus holding the formerly loose stainless trim strip tight to the body.
Probably too crude for some but it looks and works good enough for me.
In the picture the location is just behind the left rear door handle.
