Weber carb fuel line
I went and did a search on Weber carb to see who was running the Weber without a fuel pump, seems like there were few. Has anyone got a picture of how they ran the fuel line not using an electric fuel pump?

Ed,
Mine ran too lean without a low pressure pump. The pump raises the fuel level in the bowl. Mine also ran slightly lean until i popped on the K&N air filter. Bill W. (I also went one size higher on an intermediate jet on the primary side. Accessible from the outside, I think it was just above the mixture screw. I don't have the car anymore, SIGH!)

I agree with Bill mine ran lean without a low pressure pump. It's easy to install under the frame rail right across from the carb. K&N Filter good idea.

Hi:
If you need more info on the Weber @ fuel pump see my posts form the past just search for post by me Mike_Ovale. By the way use only steel lines if you can it will last longer due to the vibrations. My Model A runs vary good with this setup. |

I'm currently running a low pressure fuel pump, but I thought I read where someone using the Weber without the one. It would be a little more quite without it.
I do use steel lines and my setup tends to run a little rich vs lean. |

Mike says use only steele lines. I don't understand how that is better for vibration than fuel approved flexable lines. Please explain.

Are you using the #12S pump? Or the #42S ?

I use a Weber with no pump, fuel approved flexible lines, no problems.

no pump needed if you have a clean tank and good flow, check the float level if your having problems, also if you are using an inline fuel filter with micro screens the fuel may back up. and will not flow.

When I did my Weber, I inquired at Car Quest for a 6Volt electric pump. Dang, he had one in a long skinny box, didn't know he had it, "Must've been in our original stock when the store opened years ago"!
Anyhow, it was the same pump the Model A suppliers sell that mounts inside the R/H frame rail with the bolt that holds the center hood bumper, & it was CHEAPER!! Very quiet, never heard it after starting, and it's almost completely hidden! Bill W.

Glad for you, Carl,
Even with a 6" flow of fuel, mine was lean & flat on acceleration, added pump & it apparently raised the fuel level in the carb enough that it ran ZIPPO. Without the pump, I could have re-jetted, but was concerned about starvation when I did our Sierra Mountains! (8,000 to 10,000 Ft elevation!) Maybe your Positive Ground Magnetism from the "pole" helps??? or you got GOOD Gremlins in yo' truck?? Bill W.

Bill, your problem was lack of fuel flow or low float level. high sierra mountians have nothing to due with the org problem.

I understand that, but first, a poster must establish where they are coming from. It's easy just to throw out a "maybe" or "it might be a----" One poster's sign off line reads something like, "Don't tell me what you 'know', tell my what you've DONE"! Like stuff that HAS worked/HASN'T worked, etc.
It's easy just to throw out RANDOM info that can have a poster "running in circles" trying to diagnose & narrow down his problem so he can repair the cause. Like, try another carb/distributor/coil/switch the coil wires/replace the ammeter/and the list can go on & on-------In the end he may have more problems than he started with! Maybe the carb he borrowed from "Ol' Joe" has been rollin' around in his trunk for years & is half plugged up with INSECT wings & stuff & it's Viton Needle & seat is permanently stuck! And that borrowed distributor has a GREAT paint job & "MIGHT" even work! I hope you all get the JIST of what I'm saying, let's try to give a poster some GOOD, proven advice to help him.
