Default Lets play guess the home made tool. What does it do? Now with Answer!

Made quickly and roughly from two pieces of scrap metal. 3/4" AF spanner shown for scale.

I'll post the answer once a few guesses have been posted.

Mart.

Reminds me a bit of the very crude hub puller I made for the rear axle of my 59 IH pickup. Yours looks much more refined than mine but it did work.

So Mart are you going to make a production run of this tool for the Ford Barners?

Naah. I offer this in the spirit of:

In other words: Make one for yourself.

I love it that your latex glove has a hole in it and you keep using it anyway. Happens to me all the time...

I looks like it's intended to keep the cursed square headed bolts that hold the backing plates from turning.

Nope, there are square slots just the clear the square bolt heads. The tool is to put pressure on the bolt heads to hold them in place.

here's what i made for that, kind of embarrassing compared to marts fine tool. hey mart, weld a tube on there so you dont need a hub, maybe even a tapered thing that fits the axle on the outside and then clears the bearing race and onto your fancy tool. love the video's !

I did have a bent spanner like that, but I can't find it. I haven't used the new tool in anger but will be trying it soon. I'm not sure, but it might be suitable for front brakes too.

Thanks for all the feedback.

Mart.

Mart, that is ingenious! Those things rotating was one of the most frustrating thing on my last build. !!

Yeah, GB I had one tight one on my truck and it took a lot longer to get that one off than the other three put together. It was only when editing the video that I realised how long it was. That what made me think of a tool for the job.
