Headlight wiring
I need to replace headlight wiring on my 36.
Before I pull out old wiring and put in new are there any things I should know, do or follow? Does the wire harness to headlights feed easily through headlight stand? Thanks, Electrically challenged |

Re: Headlight wiring
You need a wiring diagram and patience. Not a hard job. Just follow the diagram and color codes.

Re: Headlight wiring
it was easy for me to rewire my pickup, like Lawson said you need a wiring diagram and be able to read it. the hardest thing was to get all the wires into the conduit on the drivers side. i was replacing my motor and wiring at the same time. i had all the wiring installed on the motor before i put it in.

Re: Headlight wiring
Mike: Thanks!
Thought I had the short in headlight socket fixed until I put new socket in. Turned headlight switch on, checked lights only to smell wires frying....time to replace harness. |

Does Tyree Harris have a web-site or number ? I might be next to tackle this issue.

TYREE HARRIS [email protected]
Great product; great guy. I'm not sure if e-mail is the best way to gert him. I've only spoken to him by phone and at Hershey. He lives in Bumpass, Virginia. When I get down to the garage I'll look for his phone number and post it here if someone doesn't beat me to it. You won't be dissappointed. Bruce/CT

Re: Headlight wiring
You can cut one or two of the bullet wiring connectors off and feed the wires through the hollow bold and reinstall new ones. I do not know why the harnesses are made with equal length wires on the harness end. You can not feed three of the connectors through the bolt at the same time. If they were slightly different in length you can get them in the bolt.
The light bulb sockets do not come with the harness (reuse old )so make sure the harness comes with the small mushroom shaped connectors (do not need to crimp)and enough to do all the bulbs. when soldering electrical wires use rosin core solder, Radio Shack has the good thin solder.
