Short in the light switch body
So the ahooga horn will sound and continue bellowing till I can open the hood and turn the top of the light switch body toward the passenger side.
Do think a new light switch body will be the cure? Thanks for the help. |

Re: Short in the light switch body
Try taking it apart and cleaning it, check whats making it act that way. Make sure the bail wire holds the switch body securely. Check it out before you start replacing stuff. Good luck

Re: Short in the light switch body
The center spring contact on the loom switch plate is for the horn, the top of it is probably touching the hole in the upper rotating plate with the three brass buttons. Put a piece of shrink tube around it, leaving the top contact surface clear.

Re: Short in the light switch body
I have fixed a few by using a large soda straw around the center contact.

Re: Short in the light switch body
Hi, I'll take the switch body apart today and see if I get the gist of what you guys are telling me. Is there a source that will give me a break down of the nomanclature you describe? Thanks, yesterday an ugly woman walking down the road thought I was flirting with her.

I had a similar problem with my 28 Roadster this week. As already suggested, a fine plastic tube, soda straw or teflon tube will insulate the centre horn connection from the revolving interior switch. It can be a real pain to fix. You need plenty of patience.

Re: Short in the light switch body
So great sense of accomplishment! Had to sand off a few millimeters of a clear rubber hose I had laying around, to get the right fit. Took a guess at the length. Bingo all is good. ( for now at least) thanks a bunch, see ya soon.
