Default Nickel Plate in NYC Area

Hi All,

Does anyone know of a company that does nickel and chrome plating? I can't find one within 50 miles of NYC. Any recommendations are welcome. Thanks.

They still have Frankford plating in Philadelphia. More than 50 miles but not much more than 100.

A local high end restoration shop uses Franklin Plating. The parts I've seen from there are excellent.

After reading Kevin's reply, I'll bet the name is Frankford, rather than Franklin.

Frankford plating in Phila has the correct dull nickle tank if you are looking for the correct color. This is important on items like bumpers and cabriolet landau irons where the back sides are unpolished dull nickel. Also the dull nickel does not tarnish as fast as the common bright nickel used in most shops for items that are not chrome plated.

I deal with Mid-Hudson Plating, 132 Smith Street, Poughkeepsie, NY, phone (845) 471-5090. They do commercial plating. If you are not in a hurry, you just drop off the part and they will add it to their next commercial plating job and call you when it's done. Prices are very reasonable and they are great people to deal with.

Pat, give Luis at MARA polishing and plating in Newark a call 973-242-0800. I had some chrome work done and it came out great.

This made me think of "The Nickel Plate Railroad" and I wonder how it got it's name?

All I can think of is the steam engines may have used a lot of nickel plated parts.

I can't think of his name, but a friend uses a guy in No Arlington or somewhere near there. An old one or two man shop, been there for years! I'll try to get his name for you.
