Default 68/78/11A distributor weights

The 68/78/11A all accept the 78/81A coil and have the same bolt pattern . It looks like all the parts are interchangeable - Are the 68/78 advance curves different? I notice in the "Green Book" the the 68 wights are replaced by the 11A. There is no mention of the 78.
Can you mix and match parts? Can you install 11A weights in the earlier dizzies for the better advance curve?

The 68 and 78 (1937-40) distributors both used the 68 curve, marked on the base of the drive. The 11A curve was used in 1941 (same distributor otherwises as '37) and again '42-8 in the 21A and 59A distributors...same advance parts as 1941, assembled onto the short shaft.
The 78 stuff eventually replaced the 68 as a service unit...the older unit made little sense as gas got better. You need the weight assembly and the matching brake disc to swap over.

yes the 11A weights and disc are replacable in the 68/78 distributors. I run the 11A in a 68 for a 1935 Ford.

Thanks. I see that Joblot has the 11A weights, but what is the source for the plate?

Also...remebered the lower plate as well is slotted for the 11A weights...you need in total the whole mess. This would be quite a search through the various places that still have some NOS mechanical parts...and Ken doubtless has it all.
My normal approach is to just root through the distributors at fleamarkets till I see the "11" stamped on the end of the shaft by the drive tab.
