Engine swap 46-48 flathead into a 37
What is involved in swapping a newer 46-48 flathead into a 37?
My 37 runs good but smokes and burns oil something terrible. It is the original 21 stud 221 with a cornhusker T5 conversion kit. I may have access to an engine out of a 46-48 pulled to do a street rod conversion from my neighbor. Wondering what is involved in the way of different parts needed etc |

The 46-48 has an "integral" bellhousing as well. Clutch should be no problem as well. The separate bellhousing was introduced in '49....

Would the headers, generator, fan, water pumps, carb that I have for 37 21 stud all work on 46-48 flathead?

You can get an adapter to run the early distributor on the later engine I think
