Default Cam interchange - how?

I have a question to do with interchanging camshafts, Ive only dealt with the early [standard] ones with a press on gear. Are there performance camshaft options for these offered by manufactures or do you use later mid 40's bolt on gears with modifications, what and how do they interchange?

You can use the later bolt on cam in the earlier engines. If you use the 21A (42-48) with the short snout that drives the distributor you'll need to install one of the spacers or button so it will reach the early helment style distributor.

G'Day Mate , I can put my "KiWi-L100" grind on a early press on gear cam or I have several other performance or even a stock Mercury grind also. Or as Ken says, you can use a later cam with the correct components.
Cheers

Thats good to know, I did PM you about your L100 cam a while ago asking a few questions, I just stuck with a 33 steel cam in my '37 as I drive in traffic almost daily.

Its just a question Ive been chewing over on how guys do it for the 21 studders.
SO just for arguments sake you wanted a Max-1 You would order this;
https://www.speedwaymotors.com/Isky-...aft,17086.html and a Ali cam gear, bolts, tab and then an intermediate cam button.. Thats it?

You could even run an 8BAS cam with a SBC distributor. The options are limitless.
