Michael enjoys and encourages talking with his customers on the phone....if not face to face, then ear to ear! DD

I honestly wish we all did this. Emails are a pain in the rump. Plus, less chance of key board muscles vs. talking on the phone or face to face.

Within reason, but it is hard to run a business while you are on the phone, especially since Michael and his wife are a two-person band.

David is right. If you send then and email detailing what you are looking for, it will save them time, as they can check will know when you call.

Downside is you have Internet forums where people come on to post that a person didn't get back to me in a "reasonable" time.

Can't win sometimes either way I believe

If I am looking for something specific, I much prefer email as there is a permanent hardcopy record of the interaction, which can be referenced later with no chance of a misunderstanding. Phone calls can get very time-consuming, and when you are done, there is still no dependable record or what happened.

Remember the old saying? "Time is money".

Not sure, Tubman. I am an elementary school principal. Often, I will call a parent after receiving their email.

I know schools aren't retail operations, but I find email ping pongs laborious, time consuming and often leads to misinterpretation. I find a phone call to be clear and concise.

Just my two cents.

I sure enjoy talking to Michael, quick and he has the knowledge base. I text and email a lot, but for anything over a short message I find it much easier to talk to some one.

Boy, the world of education must be very different than the business world. I wouldn't think it is a good model to follow after reading your post.

Well, thankfully it is quite different. I guess we'll have to agree to disagree. It's worked for me for the past 16 years and parents appreciate my "real time" communication practice.

I honestly think a lot can be lost in an email; especially when you are dealing with someone's child.

Not all email is bad. Quick yes, no or do this or that emails are great. That's good time management. But when talking about someone's child, I've found email is not the best vehicle.

This idea of needing a "record" can be accomplished by a follow up email after a discussion takes place.

This is my last post on the subject since we are deviating quite a ways from the OP's question.

I think you said it all when you said "you are dealing with someone's child". This takes it from an intellectual exchange to an emotional one, which I, for one, am thankful I never had to deal with.
