52 F1 mufflers
Hi guys
My F1 came with headers, dual pipes and what I believe to be smittys. They used flex pipe to get over rear and out back. I don’t want to spend a lot but would like to replace flex pipe back. Do any vendors sell pre-bent pipes? If yes are they good fit?

Had similar issue but with spare tire carrier clearance. Local chain muffler shop solved the problem at a reasonable cost. Did the work on a day that they had time to “do it right” Tom |

Re: 52 F1 mufflers
I had the exhaust pipes from the mufflers back on my 52 F1 with a custom flatbed done at an "old school" muffler shop in Marion, Indiana about ten years ago. Really great experience as the old muffler guy, my age and I chatted through the whole process. He actually did it by sight and feel of the bends he had made in the pipes.
He had quoted me $100 and when he got done I asked what I owed him and he said, "whatever fair". I tried to hand him $150 and he gave me $25 back. Nice to get a quality custom job and even nicer doing it the old fashion way. Chap |

Re: 52 F1 mufflers
Here's what I ended up with, behind Red's headers and extensions, and Smitty's. I had the local Midas do the work. Without doing some extreme stuff there is no way to keep a spare under there, especially if you are running larger tires. If you go to a 9" rear end, it's even tighter.

Re: 52 F1 mufflers
It appears you had a 9" with the shock brackets moved inwards?

Ross
I thought the point was showing dual exhaust on 52 F1 V8 that will clear the spare tire carrier. Thanks for your comments, always appreciate your knowledge. Tom |
