Default Ford Stobomatic

Can anybody tell me anything about this machine? I think it is used for timing and possibly even for more engine tuning functions. I saw one the other day and wondered what exactly it was and if they are worth their weight and storage space for use in a home shop.

Ford originally used Heyer machines then went to a machine with the Ford name on it. Those used air to drive the distributor works. If the machine is functional, it is well worth having.

I'm just not getting anything on a search looking at Heyer or Ford strobomatic. Would there be another name for it?

All I get is info on vintage camera flash mechanisms.
