Default Ears on the hogs head..

The two bolts, on the top of the hogs head on 26-27, wich attach to the block, to reduce flex between the engine and trans, reducing crankshaft breakage, how does it actually look on the block side?
Would it be difficult to fabricate a bracket bolted to an earlier hogs head, like my -23, to stiffening the set up? How is it bolted together, cover and block?

My crank and main cap has an standard play i assume, at least the crank has a standard diameter. It has three shims and no wear in the cap. My question is, how much play between crank and main cap shall i have? I use plastigage.

At last, end play... If my engine stand on its nose, will 0,002-0,004 be an accurate crankshaft end play with the new cap ?

Merry Christmas and a happy new year!
/Tom

The '26-'27 braces go to the frame mount points and use the bolts for the crankcase arm to frame. Then the upper ends go to the thru holes on the hogshead (trans cover) and into the threaded boss on the '26-'27 block. Those brackets are left and right to angle correctly.

As for service clearance on the mains for the crankshaft, the factory says ideal .0015-.0025", Serviceable .004", Repair .005"

Crankshaft end play, ideal .006-007", Serviceable .016", Repair .018"

Check Langs or Snyders catalogs. I think they make a retro fit kit for the earlier cars. The mounting point on the 26 27 block looks some what the same as Model A.
