Re: Bob Drake Company
As a young guy I prefer to order online. Bob Drakes online part is okay but I do the bulk of my shopping on Mac's. They just take a week to even process your order though. If someone even came in and shipped out as fast as speedway for restoration parts etc.. I think they would easily dominate.

Old Bob advertises he ships at cost which we all know is simply NOT true. Then, he adds a $2 delivery guarantee to each and every order. Last time I checked, insurance was included at certain levels with all delivery services. So, think about it... $2 each order x thousands of orders per year = one heck of a pile of "free cash" for Bob.

Re: Bob Drake Company
I don't buy much stuff, and have no problem with bob drake. BUT, have bookmarked Joe's and will start looking his way in the future. Never hurts to shop compare.

Re: Bob Drake Company
Drake's hasn't been able to be counted on since the debacle a few years ago with the loose leaf catalog that they abandoned after charging folks for lifetime updates. Plenty listed in their catalog that isn't in stock and won't be for quite a while. I'll give Joe a shot.

Re: Bob Drake Company
I prefer C and G Parts out here on the left coast. fast shipping, someone always answers the phone and they can tell you right away when parts are in and out of stock. They carry all the major parts suppliers products. The parts guys are very knowledgeable.
I'm close to Sacramento Vintage Ford, but they are frequently out of stock on parts and their shipping prices on small items are horrible. They also repackage everything so you don't know the supplier and they won't tell you who supplies the part. |

Re: Bob Drake Company
I have bought tons of parts from Joe's antique over last 2 and a half years. Joe provides great service and prices.... plus he answers the calls himself! I hope he keeps this style of doing business. We appreciate it. Manuel

Re: Bob Drake Company
I think Bob is getting tired. He has invested tons of money in his company and now that hot rods and restorations have slowed down, he isn't making as much as he once did. I heard a couple of years ago he was looking to retire.

Re: Bob Drake Company
You still have to thank all these suppliers, with out them we would be like most of the other makes of old car owners, always looking for some gasket or gearbox part, unlike us Ford owners who have a pile of suppliers to choose from.
That means we can use our cars as often as we like,( we are off away in the 33 for a few days today towing the new caravan we made for it) I can get parts for my A and 33 from the USA in 1 week, try that for an out of stock part at the local New car dealer. I told my local Ford dealer he could learn a lot from the old ford suppliers in the USA, he was stunned when I told him there was not too much I could,t get for the A or 33. Lucky us. Lawrie |

Re: Bob Drake Company
I have good luck in past with them, however I have had the same problem with waiting on phone. I waited almost a year for running boards! They lost contract to make 40 body panels, Dennis carpenter now has it. I think they grew a little too fast. The products I have ordered have always been top notch. Running boards are look fantastic, haven't fitted them yet. I hope they get it together!

Re: Bob Drake Company
C&G. A1+++ in PR, shipping, response to e-mails. Stand by what they say. I found them by accident and go to them first for bits. Always ship in the smallest box they can do. CA Co makes them closest for me down at the "ass end of the world".
