Depends on what Champion plugs you have. 3X plugs were gapped at 35

Also looks to depend on when.. Tech Speaking Vol 6, page 58-82 gives from .025 (1928), .030 and .035 depending on which version of 3X was used..
I think that 31T was right with .035 unless you're having issues then try .030

I use motorcraft plugs, with a 0.035 inch gap.

I use a gap of .035 on my model A's no matter what spark plug that I use. I prefer Champion W18 or The old C4 two piece plugs. A gap of .035 will give the best spark and any gap greater will shorten coil life unless you run electronic ignition.

I have always used .035 on any plug we’ve used in Model A’s.

Less has carboned up, more has caused miss fires at higher speeds. .035 seems just right. Enjoy.

The new old stock Champion C4 plugs that I have used at times on some of my cars recommended a gap of .032 . I ran -run the C4 plugs on .035 .The wider gap works good for me , no matter what spark plug that I use . Some are more interested in a slower idle and feel that narrower gap smooths and helps slow idle . Ford was concerned that higher compression would blow out the spark . I've never had that problem . The Pertronix Flamethrower coils that I use recommend opening up the spark plug gap even wider .

Hehehehe, when growing up it was said point gap was set with a match book cover. I've been wondering how we do it now since you can't find match books anymore. Hehehehehe.
