Value of Rear Radius Rods

I am acquiring a pair of rear radius rods from a fellow who told me we'd figure out the value later. I want to pay a fair amount for them but have no idea what that would be. These are used and probably original in good condition. Any suggestions? Thanks!

I think there are two different styles, but $50.00 sounds fair to me. FedEx Ground would be the best method of shipping them if they need to be.

Check them out first...sometimes where they are "crimped" together on the bottom gets full of moisture (somehow) and rusting and rotting of the metal makes them not as strong as they used to be. NOT GOOD!

The rods arrived this afternoon. Look to be in pristine condition - no evidence of rusting of any sort. As cautioned by Steve, I checked them carefully.

I am replacing both rods as those on the car have both been patched. One is missing the bracket to which the brake anti-rattlers attach. Have removed right rod - one backing plate bolt came out HARD and the bolt attaching front of rods came apart only after the application of the impact wrench. Will install new rod once 2nd coat of paint dries!

I bought a pair of 1930 rear radius rods from Brattons (not new ones) for $80.

I have sold several individual radius rods for $20-30 depending on condition. Sets for $50 picked up & not shipped.

I just came in from finishing the radius rod install. Suffice to say that the statement "remove the xyz bolts..." doesn't begin to describe the task! I needed an impact wrench to remove the bolt at the front of the radius rods, and I had to shorten the upper left back plate bolt (Dremel) because the bolt was (and still is) frozen into the corresponding hole on the radius rod. I've run into some frozen bolts on the old tractors I work on, but these were something special.

Rod, it certainly is! Also amazes me that some things last that long. The radius rods that came off the car had been patched at some point - suppose that might date back to 1930, but who knows? Anyway, the worse of the two had a good sized crack at the axle end that ran about 6" along the inside of the rod, and the bottom of the rod was separated about 1/8" for most of its length. Someone wrapped sheet metal around the rod near the crack and tack welded it on - I'm guessing that the crack developed after that exercise. Anyway, I think we're good to go for another 50 or so years.

Kinda late now that you have them installed, but. I buy Rear radias rods to be shortened for the F150 Od transmission kits. Average $40 for a set and wont buy them if they show rot in the seams or rattle with rust.

After shortening them i tack weld along the seam every 2 inches to add some strength. dont know if it is necessary but sounds safer. ken

There are 2 different styles, dependent on 28-29, 30-31 and where the chassis was assembled or so I have been told. I prefer the earlier style that have a heavy cast mounting area to the backing plate. Out here radius rods aren't worth much so seems like the prices above are fair. I have a pile of them that were given to me because they won't even make good fence posts I was told -Weeks

Thanks for all the input. Fellow who supplied them has a stack he acquired some time ago. He hasn't buying or selling them for some years so had no idea what they're going for. He's a good friend of a good friend of mine, just trying to help me out. We'll settle on a price soon, based a fair amount on what's been posted here. Thanks again.
