Default Help identify this battery cover

i thought this would fit my 55 f100 buts its too long. anyone possibly know what year truck this is for? it measures 18" x 9" thank you

Probably 1957 and later when Ford used the old 29NF series batteries.

Jeff, thank you for the heads up. But i dont think the 57 trucks had the hole cover lid?

Probably should post this on the early Ford section. Look like a pre 49 unit, possibly a truck if later

After looking at some Google images it looks to be from a 1956 truck F500 with the locking cover,57's and later had the battery on the firewall this might be the place to ask https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...battery-2.html

Maybe they switched to the long narrow battery in '56 when they went to 12 volts ?

Just a lucky guess, since I knew they switched to 12 volts in '56.
