Dick, to add to this. Is there anyway to know what position either the top or bottom adjustments are in without first removing the brake drum to check ?

To Dick Spadaro,

Dick, thank you for your post on the correct way to adjust the brakes on my '39. I've been "fussing" with the fronts to get them to stop evenly using the procedure from the tech site. Obviously, I was missing something and I think it was the sequence you outlined in detail. I printed off your post and had it on the ground with me under my car, along with the 3/4 and 11/16 wrenches.

No more pulls to the left or right!! Thanks again,
