my a motor tends to leak . it seems it may be leaking after I shut the motor off . I have checked the return tube (rear main) & it is clear . so can the rear main cap cause the problem ? grasping at straws

on my oil-Leaker,... when I took the flyWheel housing off, there was evidence that the oil was leaking from the back of the cam shaft, into the flywheel housing.
and the spring/plunger from the Cam cover were jammed in tight.. so the cam shaft was whapping back and forth. it may not be 100% the rear main seal issue, if you have checked this already. my oil dribble symptom was as I pulled into the drive or just turned to go in the barn to park the car... it would dribble a line of oil... then into the pan afterwards. running at road speed... no leak... or when cold/cool no leak.

I find that significantly more oil leaks out of the transmission's input shaft bearing than leaks out of the engine, especially after replenishing the transmission oil.
