I am pretty sure Ford called those "engine stay rods". Have nothing to do with anti-chatter.

I also remember adapters that were available for connecting the anti chatter rods to an 8BA a number of years ago. They mounted using several of the bell housing to engine threaded hole using slightly longer hardware & were crescent shaped & one mounted on each side with a hole on each one centered and about 1 in further out from the bell housing bolt pattern that the rods bolted to. I have an 8ba in my 35 and secured the rods to the frame away from the engine and haven't had any chatter issues so never worried about connecting them.

Lengthen the stock 40 rods by cutting rewelding them either by cutting and welding in a section or by sawing off the threaded end and welding a new rod with thread to make them longer. They are made of mild steel. Or, you can made an entirely new pair from mild steel like the ones shown here.

The one's on my 41 run from the bellhousing to the front crossmember. Only have one on right side and it's not bolted down. Will fix that as I get to it. Al
