Default 1946 Generator Mount Stud.

Have recently had a failure of the generator to inlet manifold stud.
Sheared and lost generator plus fan into radiator.
A spare manifold had a 1/2 unc stud fitted. the broken one had a 9/16 unc stud fitted. Part No: 357730-S7.

3rd Generation have them in stock.Presume these would be 9/16 unc.
Is the 9/16 unc the correct thread and are these just normal specs as opposed to HT.

Phil, Yes 9/16, NC on the manifold end and NF on the nut end.

And don't over tighten the nut or the belt.

And... Not part of the question but for anyone that didn't know it... Order with confidence from Third Gen Automotive.

What was your failure? did the stud pull the threads out of the intake or did the stud snap?

Cab you believe the stud snapped off flush at threaded section, inlet manifold.
Have another with a damaged thread which I recovered by going out to 5/8 unc.

Yes I've seen the studs break before. I guess from over tightening? Regardless, they were probably never engineered to last this long.

I thought the stud could have been HT, but when drilling it out this was not the case. Anyhow the oversized 5/8 is fitted well and still clearance at bracket for adjustment.
