Completely unrelated to the main subject of this thread, but after looking at the pictures "petehoovie" posted, I hafta say that the only car I can think of that looks good in chartreuse is a shoebox Ford Crestliner.

Yup, that's my beater, the Emerald Beast. We did about 2K miles on that trip, rain and shine. I broke a speedo cable and did several brake adjustments but otherwise she really held up!

That's Alex Lohman's flatback in the background.

I bet the photographer Tom McCarriston put in a good word with the editor because THAT car is not magazine-worthy!

Those pics look to be taken early on the morning of the Concourse judging. You can see that there is just the slightest bit of rain falling. All the cars in these pics are in Touring or Display classes, while the judged cars were inside the building in the background. Boy it was fun laying out the 'show field' in that building at midnight the night before!

Jeff I recognized the name from the trip up to Walt Duponts several years ago, thought I might have remembered the fordor.

Hey you traveled to a club event rain and shine, serviced your vehicle along the way that you actually drove.

That is more than enough reason to be in our clubs bi-monthly magazine that WE pay dues for membership. Good for you brother!

Jeff, John Mason and Frank Miller are die hard touring legends in my mind. There are many other V8 club members who drive their V8's to and from the national meets but these guys I have a really good relationship with.

They can all tell you the experience and memories from each one of these national meets are priceless. Every meet has it's own personality but the bottom line is folks from 25-90 years of age all have a blast together.

What happens to the 76+ years of age at the meets?

One of our other Barn members, fordv8j also has a 1938 Coupe pictured. He's owned it since 1964 when he purchased it for $300. Got some hubcaps last month from him and he was nice enough to send pics of his two cars. Also he got me to join the Early Ford V-8 Club.

Hi, On that trip Dad and I trailered the 36 Phaeton to NH and did Maine about 500 miles maybe more. It was epic and I will never forget so many little details. (For the new around here there are old threads including lots of lobster eating, old race tracks, and breakdowns and Walt schooling the world on flathead oiling.)

The '35 Fordor Touring I picked up about three summers ago after Dad had passed and I was sole owner of the Phaeton. It's the first old car I paid for after being junior partner in quite a few. I hated it at first, really ugly was what I thought. It fell into my lap on a can't refuse deal. I'm still kidding myself about how much body filler is in it! I've had it at Gettysburg (trailered), Chantilly, and Auburn V-Club meets (driven).

I figure I can use the four doors and trunk for real long trips but I still dislike the colors.

The Phaeton doesn't even have door locks!!! My luggage and tools are up for grabs at every McDonald's. Plus there's a bit of a wind issue. AND the Phaeton is a really nice car that I don't wanna use up or ding up. This '35 is nice, but not so nice I feel bad about putting miles on it. An example is I drilled holes in the floorpan for seatbelts and it hurt, but not as much as it would have for the Phaeton which is a death trap seatbelts or not.
