Default front brakes

Wondering what years car/truck front brake drums will fit my 47 car?

Repro drums are available.

You could fit some of the lincoln types that are available.

You could go F100.

The last two would be complete brake swap outs, not just a drum.

What are you trying to do?

Mart.

Like Mart said, these MT Products drums will work but, you will have to use new hubs and best to reuse your old bearings.

I thought you could use the MT drums on your exsisting 47 hubs?
Only require new studs, which MT can supply. Old studs will have to have drum swage cut, or drill the studs out.

RalphM: My error. You are correct. You can reuse your old hubs if you install new studs.
I don't know if MT sells the studs.

According to the Green Bible the front hub/drum assemblies fit 1940 to 1948. Although they are different from the front the same applies to the rear. If you take them apart the pre war hubs must be used with the pre war drums and the post war hubs must be used with the post war drums.

1940-'48 drum/hub assemblies from an automobile, as well as drum/hub assemblies from '40 AND '41 pickups. !940-'48 Mercury drum/hub assemblies will also swap-out. DD

If you are talking hub/drum assys; up to '47 will fit. '48 up used 11" Bendix brakes.

If you are talking drums only, you need to get the ones that fit your style hub; flange inside or flange outside.

If you have the outside flange style and you want to replace the drums; best bet would to get some inside flange hubs and new MT (Boling Bros) drums as posted earlier.
