Split wishbones

I split my front wishbones and am getting ready to attach them below my frame rails with tie rod ends. Is there a general height below the frame for good alignment that most people go by?

As much as possible you want to position (and/or possibly re-shape also) so as to maintain the stock caster. spring fit into crossmember, etc.. If not modified they should be in the same plane as original.

As I recall 3 to 8 degrees therefore I got 5 deg. on V8, I have a V8 axle on an A frame. There was a long drop in the mix to get it right but a 4” z in the frame brought it tight to the bottom of frame. I would say rather than build a drop requiring gussets and such, bend the wishbone where it will work out better. Early mock up picture shows z done with initial drop still in place. I may have had to piecut the tube also, but don’t recall doing it. Drives and tracks beautifully, never wobble, the goal.
BTW, save the center with ball, it still has use.

I’ve only used spit bones from early Fords
Model A are to short but again that’s just me . I’m not
A fan once there spit . As a wise bone and ball system there
Pretty neat how every thing works together .
Ok I feel better now , got that off my chest . LOL
