Default Door Latch for 63-B Cabriolet

I recently became the owner of my Dad's 30-31 Cabriolet. He bought it in '35, my brother has had it since the late 80's and I got hold of it several months ago and am beginning a restoration. I have most all the parts for it but am missing the driver's side door latch. These are real hard to find. Does anyone have any insight as to where I might be able to dig one up?

Wouldn't a latch off a Briggs bodied Fordor work?

Am told that the latch was specific for this model, but none were ever reproduced. I may need to convert one from a Fordor, but sure would be great if I could find one that is supposed to fit.

there are two different door latches in the 68B`s 29 and early 30 take the same door latch as a briggs four door the late 30 and early 31 have there own and are very hard to find, does your inside door handle lift or twist or better yet send me a picture of the inside door panel that the latch hooks too and I will let you know what you have.

Inside door handle lifts, but not sure a picture would help as all the door parts (window mechanics, door panel, etc) are not in place. would a pic of the passenger door help?

When asking the parts counter guy, just remember to quote your car as a 68B rather than a 63B. Have you joined the Cabriolet club in Texas? You could post an ad through their newsletter.

if your lifts it is the same as a Briggs four door, but if you are going for show you will need to have the hatch chrome plated. Stinch is right on the 68B

Thanks Stinch, yes, mistakenly did post 63B, not 68B. Will be more careful. And..if Texas group is strong will also post on their newsletter. Many thanks!

Roccass, living in your neck of the woods. just a hundred yards inside the city of ATL border. Have found my pro UGA ways softened a bit since claiming this "ramblin' wreck" as my own.

Great to read this jw hash. Mike's Affordable Model A thought that another could not be substituted for this. Will attempt to use the fordoor if no 68B opportunities come available.
Many thanks!
