Default 46-48 Columbia control question

I have 2 styles of the bracket that holds the Columbia solenoid valve assembly. The first is the familiar one that mounts to the cylinder head. The second mounts to the steering box. Is this set up for the six cylinder cars? Can it be used with a V8, or will it have clearance issues with the V8 engine. Anyone seen a car with this style bracket?
