Default 1936 spare cover trim clips

A while back there was a discussion about where to find 36 spare cover stainless trim clips. I can't seem to dredge it up.
Anyone know where I can find some or something that will work?

How many clips per ring?

Very popular post. I have 4 responses already and my ring/clips weren't even for sale!
I have 15 clips in Rust 911. I should know by tomorrow how many are good. Seems to me the motivated restorer could make some by welding a small bolt to a strip of sheet metal the correct width.

I see Macs lists the ring and clips as discontinued. Lucky I got mine when I did!

Takes 9.Couldn't find any so I made mine from tiny rivet nuts that Drake sells.Southside Obsolete in MN might have some originals.
Here is a pic of what I did and it worked for me.I ground down the head. Drake part number 1160-R.

I have found that the reproduction trim ring needs to be installed using the clips provided. Stock clips will not fit, since the reproduction ring is more narrow than the stock ring. Since the reproduction trim rings are no longer in stock, good original rings are out there, but getting harder to find in good condition.

Just measured 0.38 original vs 0.35 repro width on the outside.

I live on ebay, only see the rings on old spare tire covers, I actually have a beat up one I could use but still need some clips, was considering silicone or gorilla glue as a last resort since mine isn't pristine

Thumbs up Re: 1936 spare cover trim clips

Thanks to "deuce lover" for the substitute clips info/pics from Drake which I ordered, not complaining but saying Bob Drake, $20 freight IS a lil excessive for 4 packs of small hardware which can fit into a padded envelope but I'm hoping they work.

FORD Barn rocks for info and help!

Thumbs up Re: 1936 spare cover trim clips

Update;
I was able to remove the donor spare tire cover trim and salvage 6 original 80+ yr old clips! Installed it on my tire cover and they held w/the 6 I have. Until I can find a better replacement trim molding in better condition this one will work.

I may have a ring that I can sell. I will have to measure the width as it is still wrapped in protective paper when I had it repaired and polished. I have not looked at them lately as I had some '34's and '36's done years ago. Email me at [email protected] if you are interested.
