Best choice for new rubber/doors, hood etc.
Now that the paint project is almost done on my 36 Five window coupe will be needing all new rubber seals for doors, fenders, rumble seat, hood. Suggestions for who has the best product? See Bob Drake, Mac's advertising all of the time. My car is completely stock on the outside but a bit warmed up under the hood! Thank you as always

My personal observation has been that Bob Drakes rubber products are easy to work with, good quality & detail and last longer.

I have purchased from Bob Drake and these guys http://www.steelerubber.com/ . Both companies sent quality parts that fit very well and only needed minor tweaking ( body hole just needed to be opened up a bit)

It seems that no matter who you buy from, the only door bumpers reproduced are the oversized version, which are rarely needed. Be prepared to shave or grind off the excess.

Re: Best choice for new rubber/doors, hood etc.
I just got two cowl vent gaskets for 32 Ford from Dennis Carpenter. I was surprised and disappointed that they are in vintique packages. I like the thin lip on the top side, but they seem to be too thick to allow the vent to close down properly. Anyone have better luck with another supplier, or do they all come from one manufacturer?

Steele Rubber Products seems to be the best quality on the market (that I'm aware of). Good luck!

'Steele Rubber Products seems to be the best quality on the market'
Plus, their customer service is good, unlike Drake's. I have dealt with both companies.

Re: Best choice for new rubber/doors, hood etc.
I made the mistake of ordering mine from Macs, it was either too thick, stiff or just plain didn't fit. I trashed it all and bought from Carpenter. This was back in 2004 and my new cowl vent gasket was in Carpenter package, soft rubber and fit great. Drake, Steele or Carpenter I would think have some of the best quality. I suggest whoever you purchase from, opening the package and checking fit once you receive it. I waited over a year and could return.
Good luck
