Default pressurized oill pot

I am providing some update to a post I did a short while ago about my rebuilt engine that has sat approx. five years without being run and how it got progressively harder to turn the engine with a breaker bar on the crankshaft nut. So hard to turn that I feared damaging threads on crankshaft so I had stopped rotating engine. My post asked about using a pressurized oil pot to inject lubricant into regions that could be very dry after all this time. I was able to borrow an oil pot from a local machine shop and used the oil sender opening to connect the pot. I was told I would hear a "whooshing or sputtering" sound as the oil was being injected. When I didn't hear anything, I set the pot up again and injected the oil into a waste container so I could verify the "pot" was indeed working. After preparing the pot again and connecting to the engine, I removed the intake so I could try to "see" if any oil was getting any into engine. In my mind I was dubious that the oil would get to the camshaft regions/parts and not just go right down to the crankcase. I had the fuel pump shaft out and I could observe the oil percolating up that opening. I could not see any residue or other evidence that the first time I injected the oil it had gone into this area. I was worried that having the fuel pump post out was likely letting too much of the injected oil simply gush out through that big opening and not getting to the more restricted areas. So of course I set the pot up a third time with the fuel pump post in place. It wasn't until after the third injection that I actually tried to turn the engine with the breaker bar. It turns as free as when it was first rebuilt. This was a quick, and inexpensive way to pre-lube this long sitting engine and I would recommend people give it a try.
