I'm trying an oil from Mike's A Fordable that's part-number GL1500 and noticed an improvement in shifting gears -- can anyone share their experance using this in your transmissions/

As you can see, nearly all posters agreed that heavy oil is the way to go in the gearbox because of the extra drag and how it helps shifting. In the interests of cutting down the total drag between the engine and wheels, I suggested an EP oil in the differential where there is no shifting of gears.

I did not care for Mike's GL1500 oil in my transmission. On cold mornings it made for extremely stiff shifting until warm (and this is SoCal). After warmup I did not experience any improvement in shifting over 600W.

Recently here I read a number of vendors are "blending" their own so the reality is without knowing for sure what the proprietary make up really is we are all shooting in the dark. It's the old 50/50. 50 will go left and 50 will go right.
