Head Lamp Bars
I'm restoring or rebuilding a 1930 Tudor from multi parts collected over the last 30 years. What are the differences and or dimensions for the different years? Nothing in the JS 1997 version. Thanks Grant

Re: Head Lamp Bars
Others will likely fill you in on the "minutia" of headlight bars (things like the flash on the forging appears on the side, or the hole size or the radius of the headlight swivel)
But generally, the 28-29 headlight bars are "straight" while the 30-31 bars are "curved." Note on each of these, there is a certain direction "forward" which agrees with the tilt of the headlight swivel. (as you hold the headlight pointing right, you'll see the swivel mount is placed a bit to the rear/left of the housing necessitating a tilt to the matching location on the bar.) Hope this helps. Re: Head Lamp Bars
There are two types of 1930 headlight bar. One is of solid bar and the other is a 'U' section. Both are slightly curved over the entire length and both have very similar cast ends to them where they bolt to the fender.

Re: Head Lamp Bars
What are the specifics of these 2 bar styles for the 1930 cars? Specifically, why would one 1930 Tudor have a solid bar, yet another have the "U" section bar?

Re: Head Lamp Bars
Sometime during [ midway??] 1930 it looks like Ford tried to save some bucks by using a pressed steel section rather than the previous forging. It is obvious where the number plate attaches as there are slots cut into the u shaped mid section. There was no need for the separate number plate clamps. Production then went back to the previous solid type forging but it makes an interesting difference when encountered on a 1930 Model A. Check the latest JS to see exactly when the U type was current.
