Default Won't stay running

I got my Model A to start after sitting for 1 year, but it only runs for 30 seconds and dies. I have fuel getting to the carburetor because it comes out of the airflow when choking (after repeated restarts). I also see a gas stain that has formed on the engine at the manifold line, probably because I flooded it trying to restart it so many times. Any suggestions?

Often if it runs for 30 secs or so and then dies there is a restriction in the fuel supply ...Non vented fuel cap? float valve not opening fully, float sticking up for some reason

Check fuel flow by removing the smaller bolt under the carburetor. Catch the gasoline in a bucket and do this outside with a fire extinguisher handy. Checking the fuel flow there includes everything from the gas cap down to the float valve. If you do not get good flow there then start isolating things one at a time. If possible do this test after it stops.

gas stain at the engine at manifold line should never be,warped manifolds gasket not sealing you are sucking air!

to add to the above gas flow test. you need to let the gas run for a while and see if it slows down. don't just open the line or bottom plug, see gas and tighten it back up.
let the gas run for a while into the bucket
some times it takes a while for the lines to empty and the restriction to slow the gas flow.

The carburetor bowl either has sediment build up or water in it,not allowing a full bowl of fuel.

Mine was doing that and I discovered that the brass screen above the sediment bulb was clogged up.

Could the eventual restriction be coming from a clogged up
filter screen that is in your tank that is attached to your shutoff valve?

Ok, resolved the problem after cleaning the carburetor, and checking the flow of gas from the tank. Drum rolls please…….it was the on/off gas switch, the nut wasn’t tight and it wasn’t opening all the way to let enough gas flow. Thank you everyone for your suggestions.

More non-standard parts causing issues LOL we need to ask what extras have been installed and/or non-standard parts
