59a oil pump
Any info on an oil pump out of a 59a i'm building?
Casting numbers are W pre-fix. Unlike the others i have, this body looks die cast alloy, cast iron end cover, cast iron elbow with die cast pick up bowl. Dimentionally the same as any other 59a pumps. No wear what so ever, factory spec backlash and tooth to housing clearance. |

Re: 59a oil pump
Personally, I don't think I would want any die cast inside my motor

Re: 59a oil pump
This is die cast, not cast iron like the 25 others i have that are both both pre war and post war.
Only cast iron part on this is the end cover and the bolt on pick up elbow. Last edited by OHV DeLuxe; 04-27-2022 at 05:02 PM. |

Re: 59a oil pump
Really? Try holding a magnet to it.

Re: 59a oil pump
Can it be an oil pump made in Germany? The "W" marking in the castings may be a specification used for the german army W=Wehrmacht.

Re: 59a oil pump
That has been my theory too, i do have other German oil pumps here though, they are all steel like the American and English pumps.
The German and English books and manuals does not show this either. A very strange find. |
