Watter Wetter
Hi Barners,
Has anyone used Water Wetter to reduce the temps in the radiator? How has it performed? best Paul in AZ |

Re: Watter Wetter
Water + water wetter as compared to anti-freeze, about 25*F cooler

Re: Watter Wetter
Hi Big Hammer,
Does that mean you use water wetter instead of anti-freeze? What about using it in the winter. Our temps get down to the teens where we are in AZ |

Re: Watter Wetter
From what I’ve been told water with water wetter will not protect the cooling system from freezing/cold weather damage. From my sources they recommend replacing the water and water wetter with anti freeze run it through the system thoroughly before winter driving and or storage.

Re: Watter Wetter
Water Weter does not protect against rust. You need soluble oil or antifreeze to keep from eating away at your block.
Water Wetter calls out 15% antiifreeze for street engines. John

Re: Watter Wetter
John Red line says provides excellent corrosion protection in iron aluminum brass, corrosion is rust with iron blocks IMHO

Re: Watter Wetter
Yes, I’ve used it. It does help, but the problem is a dirty radiator/block. I don’t use antifreeze, so I use a radiator/ water pump lubricant.

Re: Watter Wetter
If you must use water wetter to reduce the temperature enough to prevent boiling over you have a problem that needs to be fixed.

Re: Watter Wetter
15% antifreeze only protects down to 20° F, about -7° C

Re: Watter Wetter
Spring water, water wetter, and an anti rust/water pump lube from NAPA works well for me. I drain and put in a new combo each spring. Summers in my area are routinely in the 100 degree range. I have the 4 row radiator and my A never goes over 180 degrees. It can also freeze in Northern California during winter months. When it does, I just put a bucket under the petcock valve and drain. My understanding is that spring water with water wetter cools best.

Fix the problem! Model As never used water wetter back in day. I use 50/50 antifreeze year round and I have no problem what so ever

Re: Watter Wetter
When i did a test about three years ago with water wetter by a company with Purple in their name, don' recall exact name they advertise 5 to 8' cooler than 5o-5o antifreeze. I got 5 degrees cooler on long trips in 98 degree weather.

Re: Watter Wetter
Katy,I think that is for the corrosion properties and additives in antifreeze, not freeze protection.

Re: Watter Wetter
I use Evans Waterless coolant. No Water=No Rust. Good to 40 below zero. https://www.amazon.com/EVANS-Cooling...jaz10cnVl&th=1

Re: Watter Wetter
I got Evans to send me some info when putting a new Chevy 350 in my streetrod. Turns out the chart they sent me shows heat transfer is not as good as water, or anti-freeze. I went with Prestone.

That doesn't make sense, it's advertised as as "Improves heat transfer"

Re: Watter Wetter
I use the Evans coolant in my AA truck and I love it. before I use it, I had the radiator spitting water out on hot days. I cleaned the radiator, removed all the water and put in the Evans waterless coolant and the problem is solved. Since the Evans has a very high boiling point of 375 degrees Fahrenheit. The heat transfer properties are not as important as keeping the coolant in a liquid state is important to transfer heat. boiling liquid does not transfer heat as well as liquid.
