Default 1950 Ford V8 8BA GM Modified Distributor Help ?

Looking for some wisdom pertaining to a modified GM distributor for a 1950 Ford V8 8BA.

My original load a matic started giving me misses and I found concentricity and runout on the timing plate.
I picked up a modified GM dissy and dropped it in. Car runs but feels off especially at idle. I can hear what sound like rattling coming from this new dissy.
Using my timing light at idle, the dot is all over the place and not very stable. Under load it is not too bad but is just feels off a bit. I tried moving the timing before and after TDC and didn't have any good results. Best was at the dot and pin.
Pulled the new dissy and installed my loadamatic.
Below is a video of what I think might be the problem. I think the advance weights are worn and the springs are not correct for this application.

Does this one look right?

I'm not sure about the weights, but the main things to cause your timing to "wobble" at idle are end float of the main shaft, or a worn top bush. There's no reason you cant get another GM dizzy and swap the bits over.

Slam,
That certainly appears to be one of my distributors. What I'm looking at how-
ever does not look the way I set up the the springs and weights. Regardless of how
the distributor came into your possession get it to me pronto , I'll square it away N/C
and ship it back the same day.

Thanks Charlie. This is the one I received from you last week. I didn't know if this was normal or not. Also the screws for the rotor button were loose and I could spin the washers so it was probably a mix up of some sort. I shipped it out today, you should have it Friday.

Thanks

Got the distributor back today and dropped it in. Set timing at the pin and dot on the pulley. Fired right up and is so smooth and quiet at 50mph the wind is louder than the motor. Pulls good all the way through the rpm.

Thanks Charlie for getting me back on the road!

I don't mean to hyjack this post but if I may ask Chalrie. Why is a gm distributor better than an 8ba distributor?
Charlie rebuilt my 94 carb and my roadster runs great!

28,
The Ford Load a Matic distributor is fine for a STOCK motor. The critical advance
feature is however controlled by engine vacuum 100 %. A cam change (radical) or
addition of multi carbs renders the LaM dist useless.....reduced vac. The sbc distributor

features mechanical advance and an optional vac assisted ,open road, additional
advance. The motor needs. ignition advance to run efficiently and provide peak
performance.
