Default Kismya

Hi Guys,

I'm 49 and a newbie to Model A's, I bought my 28 open cab pickup sight unseen from an old guy who was over freezing when going for club runs. I've had her since just before xmas and absolutely love her. I have been reading all your threads and quietly learning as I go. Unfortunately about April she started to run a bit rough so I took her to a workshop who I knew serviced a few Model A's and we discovered muck in the carby, 1 x bent valve, a tooth missing from the timing gear, and a crack in the block above the camshaft.

I am having the engine rebuilt by a man by the name of Murray Horn here in NZ. He gave me 2 options, either to go back original, or he could build what he called a touring engine. I went for the latter as I intended to keep the truck for a long time and do as much driving as I could.

I have attached a pic of the crankshaft. I was impressed with what Murray has done. He has added the counterweights to the crank, lightened the flywheel from 65lbs to 40lbs and added a harmonic balancer to the front pulley with reverse screw for the oil seal. I should run nice and smooth. I get the engine back in a couple of weeks. I am excited to get her back on the road for summer.

Good looking truck. Glad when you get it back together so you can drive it again.
