T5 install
I have a question about a T5 install in my 55CV. I have the motor stabbed and the trans hung on the back. When I measure between the frame rails I have 17 7/8" on the driver side and 18 5/8" on passenger side to center of the output shaft. When I move it to center it wants to come back to its current location. Anyone have any ideas on this? I don't want to put anything in a bind this my question. I cannot find any info in my searches that addresses this situation. Any help/info on this will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Re: T5 install
Ask in the H.A.M.B. 1952-59 Ford Social Group this swap has been done by several members.

Re: T5 install
Do the same measurement to the center of the front pulley and the center of the rear end pinion and compare. Also try loosening all the front mount bolts to let things align themselves.

Re: T5 install
Thanks gents, got it. Ended up being more of a brain fart than anything else. I had only double checked my measurements before posting. Some how got hung on a exhaust mount. Modified. Remeasured a couple more times and paid a little better attention to what I was doing laying under the car and found I was only a 1/4" off center. You'd think that as a carpenter I would have done a little better the first time. Thanks again for the suggestions. It all helps.

Re: T5 install
One quarter inch off is within stock factory specs. Chassis specs were plus or minus 3/8.

Re: T5 install
Another one "I cut it off three times and it's still too short".

Re: T5 install
You may find an aluminum drive shaft from a Crown Vic to fit, just change the U joints.

Re: T5 install
Thanks Don. I have it centered now +- 1/8". I have a driveline shop in mind here in Sac. Gonna take both th mustang and CV shafts to them with the measurement, yes I know how, and have one in a week. Motor won't be ready for a few months but when it is I'm hoping for a plug n play.
