Default 41 pickup cab mounting wood

Does anyone have pics, or info, on the cab mounting wood blocks for a 41 pickup? My 41 wood is 2 pieces with a "finger" joint, joining them together. However, the end at the back of the cab also has a "finger" joint, and I have no idea what this joins to. Does another piece of wood join to this, and the bed mounts on it or?? Thanks.

I took the remnants of my wood and made some new ones. I just overlapped the wood and screwed the two pieces together instead of trying to remake the finger joint. The rear of mine was missing so no evidence of another finger joint at the back. I have seen pictures of extensions further back that support the wooden frame that supports the front of the bed.

Mine was just repairing some rotted wood rather than trying to do a restoration. I have some pictures somewhere that I saved from the web (probably from here). If I can find them I will post them here.

Mart.

The 40-41 Ford pickups use three pieces of wood on each side that are finger jointed together. You can also buy the wood without the finger joints. I got my new wood from Northern Classic Trucks, but they are no longer in business. Not sure who might carry or make the finger jointed wood now. You might try Mack Products.

as an aside I've often considered modifying the cab mounting to a more modern rubber system as these old tucks are quite noisy with a lot of vibration coming through the cab.

Re the pic posted above, it ought to be made clear that what in the pic are 3 pieces are normally 2. The two pieces on the right are one as stock, finger jointed to the piece on the left.

Check e-Bay item #122867828496. It's cab wood sold by Mid West Early Ford. It is not finger jointed and specifically says their cab wood does not protrude under the front of the bed as original. The wood I got from Northern Classic Trucks was identical to the old wood I removed and did extend under the front of the bed for a short distance. It did come in three pieces. My original wood had some thin rubber belting material tacked to it that went between the frame and the wood. I would recommend trying to find someone who makes the correct under cab wood.

Ditto on what TJ says. The pics are not like what my '40 has or had originally. I also got mine from NC trucks.

Here's my solution, but was lucky enough to have some original left.

Might still have patterns laying around. (not sure postage to New Zealand).

^^ Thanks for those pics, Mr Fliboy, I have looked but I can't find the ones I saved. I need to make the rearward extensions for mine. Neither of my 2 41s had any wood rearward of the rear cab mounts.

Mart.

Mart, the rearward section was exposed to a lot of water, dirt, etc. When I removed my wood most of the dry rot was in the rearward piece. Over time that wood probably just rotted away.
