Default Holly 94 carbs

I wonder just how important it is to have a real snug fit on throttle shaft in the cast iron base ? What would be acceptable and if the base is a bit worn, should you drill it out and make a bushing ?

Good fitting throttle shafts are always a plus. You can also get oversize throttle shafts.

Have not done this job on a 94. I did it on a rare Autolite 4100 and it fell into the category of "I ain't doing this again" because I ended up making the bushings, etc.
Maybe there are appropriately sized bushings available for the 94 on the market? Would make the job way easier.

I sent mine to Charlie NY who magically transformed it. No learning curve required.

I have used these several times with good results : https://www.speedwaymotors.com/Speed...haft,7124.html.

If you decide to go this way, it is wise to purchase a 9/32" reamer and not use a drill bit as suggested.

If your Holly 94 has evident wear at the throttle shaft, it may be time to invest in a replacement. Excellent new ones are available, and usually will enhance performance.

Oversize shafts and the proper reamer are the ticket.

Many times you will find that most of the wear is in the shaft. It is softer than the base it goes through and wears. Sometimes just replacing the shaft will tighten things up. They also offer .005 oversize shafts. As suggested purchase a 9/32 reamer.
