Model B Fuel Pump HYGRADE fp-159
Folks,
Having trouble finding parts to rebuild/replacement fuel pump for my 1932 Model B 4 cylinder...The pump that came on this is a HYGRADE products FP-159 (inside of top half has F-P-157-D). I need to replace the diaphragm, 3.25" diameter, 6 holes, staked to a 1-7/8" long T shaped pull rod...any ideas? I have found this airtex pump for early 40's dodge wc, but the pressure is 6.5-8psi, the mount looks right though, and I like the glass bowl idea... https://airtexasc.com/product-details?partkey=000566172 The hygrade appears to be a clone of the standard 32 model b AC type... Thanks for any help you can offer, Dan - Ranger351 |

Be sure to place a wanted ad here, on HAMB https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/forums/wanted.30/, and on the Early Ford V8 site https://www.earlyfordv8.org/classifi...20Sale&c=Parts. A correct one for a show car is expensive but aftermarket ones should be less. Does yours use a standard rebuild kit? You might try Renner's Corner for a gasket kit or ask it they can rebuild yours (see attached).

Re: Model B Fuel Pump HYGRADE fp-159
I did email Charlie, I'm north of buffalo, NY so he appears to be local.
Unfortunately the pull rod doesn't match up with the standard AC rebuild kits, it's staked on to the diaphragm, I wish it were put on with a nut or bolt...I have found a diaphragm and rod that has the same dimensions out of Australia https://classiccarbs.com.au/index.ph...roduct_id=1637 I'm looking into those associated AC pn's without much luck....I know these have to exist...just not looking in the right spots (plus I'm trying to save a bit of coin along the way....) I figure there has to be an aftermarket one that should work, for less than $200-$300 the originals seem to be...the dodge airtex pumps are about $50-60 new.... |

All of this tells me that you should work with Charlie. Otherwise, you will end up with a non-standard setup that will cause problems down the line. Fix it right and fix it once..

Re: Model B Fuel Pump HYGRADE fp-159
There's nothing rare about '32-'34 four-cylinder fuel pumps except in the minds of some sellers. They are simple to rebuild, but it sounds like you need a different interface between the diaphragm and the pull rod (detachable like the original). New pull rods, unlike the pumps themselves are scarce. It does not sound like you have an interest in an original so the advice of those above to get with Charlie would be the path to follow.

Charlie would do you a fine job. If you wish to do it yourself, kits are available through Rennerscorner.com

Re: Model B Fuel Pump HYGRADE fp-159
Ranger and I have swapped e mails....we're only 30 miles apart. Whether the rod is staked to the diap or uses a threaded attachment is no big deal. Aside from the diap
servicing the valves is important. thanks all for the kind words. Charlie ny |
