I'm interested to know if a B4 distributor will work in a Model A.

Is anyone using one and if so, are their any pitfalls?

I'm not sure what a B4 is, but if you mean the 1932 Model B distributor, yes, they work if you get them timed right. Two of my Model A's had them when I bought the cars, but before I even started either car, I removed them and installed the correct distributors.

I used a B dist. on a warmed up A engine decades ago. There are many possibly better choices for a modified engine today, but then I tolerated the lesser overall advance because the dist was then very cheap and centrifugal where less advance was somewhat OK. Properly timed the initial advance is high and may be tough on the statrer but obviously Ford disagreed in '32. They do however look almost stock and that is good for some but not others.
