Default Windshield/ Gas cap

Dumb question, should the windshield frame hit the gas cap when opening it to its' fullest position? I have to remove the cap to extend the windshield all the way out, then put the cap back on.

No. The windshield should clear the gas cap when opening. Your wood screws holding the windshield at the top are coming loose from the windshield header.
Your wooden header may be getting soft, or just the screw holes. See if you can tighten the screws a bit to pull it back up. If not, take one screw out at time and put toothpicks in the open hole and replace the screw. Sometimes this works if your header isn't too soft or rottenj. Good luck.

I had the same problem with a brand new cap from Clastique (NOT the upholstery people). I talked to someone at Bert's Model A parts in Denver and he said that caps from that company were too tall. A new cap from Berts from another manufacturer solved the problem.

I had this same issue on my 30 Tudor. It appeared the PO had installed a rubber gasket at the top of the windshield with the windshield in place. The gasket was doubled over in a few places, making it double thick at the top, preventing the frame from fully seating to the top header.

The gas cap sits about seven eights high. Windshield seems solid.

That looks like 3/4 inch at the edge. My 1930 tudor shows the same height and it clears. Maybe you could loosen the screws at the header and possibly raise the windshield.

Take the cap off, stuff a rag in it. Just don't drive it when it's rainy. Windshield will now clear without issue.

When you drive at night, ignite that rag with a lighter, it'll give off more light than those headlights! JUST KIDDING!!
