Quality Control of Parts
I'm working on the final assembly of my 1936 Pick Up rear end and I'm ready to attach the drive shaft to the pinion. Retrieve the rivets that I ordered last December and it appears to be a little short, first pic.
Seeing that the tail of the rivet was short, I checked the Green Bible to ensure that I ordered the correct fastener. I did in fact order the correct length, 2.04" for my 10 spline drive shaft. I ordered 2 rivets, 1 for back up if the first one didn't install correctly. So I measured the second rivet in its original package to find that these are .150" short, second pic. Am I missing something here? This is my first Banjo Rear End overhaul. Thanks, Norm |

Re: Quality Control of Parts
It hasn't got anything to do with the quality of the rivets, it's the improper packaging of the product. (wrong part)
Take it up with the supplier. I doubt that anyone on this forum can correct the problem.

Re: Quality Control of Parts
Every time one of these types of post comes-up (quite legitimate, in my opinion), half the folks here make an "intelligent" statement something like: "We should all be THANKFUL that a few companies have invested huge $$$ and beaucoup time to keep our old Fords on the road". Horse crap! Junk!! There is absolutely no excuse for any of this. The supplier (in this case) even noted the requisite length on the tag. Obviously, your ruler is better than their ruler. They have to give a damn before any semblance of "Quality Control" will come into play. Where's Kube? DD

Re: Quality Control of Parts
Norm, I rebuilt the rear in my '35 last May and that rivet is important to get in there correctly. Apparently, I didn't get my rivet peened correctly on the ends and it has come partially out and is pinging on the inside of the torque tube. I have to take the rear back out and correct this. You can bet this will be dome more carefully this time. I would suggest getting that rivet from another supplier. Maybe Roy Nacewicz, Carpenter, C&G, Brown in Texas, Mac VanPelt, etc. It's apparent that MAC's doesn't have what you want/need. Do it right the first time or you may be doing it again like me.

Thanks John for the list of suppliers. I guess that this post was partially a "Venting". I have to postpone my plans to reinstall the rear end beacuse of $1.50 part. Another week waiting on parts. Its just a hobby! Norm |

Re: Quality Control of Parts
I'm with COOPMAN on this one, especially after my bad experiences with misrepresented products from company seen on rivet label. They really don't care!! I will NEVER buy the that outfit again.
