36 pickup door glass channel location

I have what at some time was new door glass with the channel installed for my 36 pickup. The channels are not installed the same on the right and left windows. They are about a 1/4 to 3\8 inch off. Is there a correct measurement either from one end, or the roller in the middle. I know these can be a challenge to install and I don't want to have to do it twice, or more. Thanks for your help!
