Default Vacuum line UPDATE & REPAIR

I seem to have lost my vacuum on my 160c and I think it might be in the hose, trouble is the last person routed the hose line BEHIND the header, wondering if anyone has a pic of the route of the vacuum line that goes up the window channel and hose route.

That's the way mine is routed. The steel tube runs over and then 90 degrees back into the car with the hose just from there to the wiper. I can post a picture without the trim piece in place if that would be helpful.

Mark, the steel line runs in the channel of the trim piece and then 90 degrees through a hole in the trim which is just over 27 inches from the passenger side end. The only place there is hose is inside the car from the end of the steel line a few inches to the wiper and from the other end to the fitting through the firewall. Here's a picture from the interior:

Mark whats your problem? did you lose vacuum to the wiper?
if so did you try to isolate where the problem might be first..what did you do to determine the problem is in the pillar tube?

Mitch, been working on isolating it, manifold to outside line great vacuum. Hose to wiper DEAD.. My assumption is of course either the hose or the line from the 90 degree turn...However it is routed inside the trim and cannot get to it without dropping the windshield and removing the the trim plate to the header. My thought is that line should NOT be behind the trim plate but in front and the hose routes along the windshield line and then INTO the header and comes out inside to the wiper.

That is the issue Mitch...That is what i think is WRONG and it is behind the header plate, Take a look at my pic I posted and you see it goes behind. If i was able to get to it I would change the hose and be done and test..

What Charles showed is not only correct, but appears to be the original. All the slant windshield models used that line. the fabric (not rubber) tube that connects the wiper to the steel tube is only 3-3/4" long.

I'm working on a similar situation for my A-400. I'm curious about how the vacuum line that routes down through the stantion connects to the firewall inside the car. Charles Coe refers to a hose that connects from the end of the steel line to the firewall - can someone post a photo of that hose showing both ends?

Also, I'm suspecting that I will need to fabricate the steel line - does anyone know a source for it?

Thanks very much.
Dave
