On vacation this past may we took the month off and drove around the US, the Christmas story house in Cleveland, OH was a must stop and it was a great time.

Merry Christmas all.

Jean Shepard also wrote for CAR & DRIVER. The actual Daisy BB gun with a sundial and compass in the stock was a Model 25 Pump. Shepard confused it with the Red Ryder carbine when he wrote the story. Daisy made a small run for the movie and since has reissued limited editions. I have one of the original issues plus all of the limited editions. For what ever reason, Daisy never got permission to use the Christmas Story logo or name.

And I'm fairly certain that's where I first encountered his work. It's true there was some good stuff to read in there too!

“The Grand Stand Passion Play of Delbert and the Bumpus Hounds,” Playboy 4/69.

Watched it twice today, besides the Model A sport coupe body, 30 Model A 2 door sedan body, The 29 Model A in the garage and The Fire Truck........In the very opening minute or two in one of the pan shots of the neighborhood streets, looks like a 35 Ford facing the camera.....Another was during Ralphie beating Scut scene, toward the end as his Mother comes running from the street it looks to be a 36 Ford on the right of the screen but you can only see 1/2 the car. Good spot on the 40 Sedan and the pickup truck!!!

I have always wondered which parts of the movie were filmed in Toonto. Perhaps it was so post production work. My '42 Fargo (not a Ford but at least it begins with a "F") is in the sequel. A lot of that movie,in my opinion not nearly as good, was filmed blocks from where I live. But I like seeing it on film. I remember going to see A Christmas Story when it first came out. I went mainly to see how a bunny costume could be reasonably attached to the title. Within minutes of the movie starting I was reliving a little bit of my youth. Magical.
